Ziggy our new mini schnauzer puppy

by Ana
(Sao Paulo , Brazil)

Hi
We just got (today!) a 4 months old mini schnauzer (Salt&Pepper) . He is so quite... the children play with him but he is so "blaze"... Is this a normal behavior for the "first day at a new home" ?!
(I was wondering if it had been better to have got a younger one...?)

Thanks!
Ziggy's new family in Brazil

NOTE FROM LINDA AND MAX: Ana, do you mean blasé or uninterested?

Quiet puppy..
by: Michele

Don't worry , as being small is not a bad thing,, your puppy will grow and when he yaps he is probably talking to you.. my Rebel does and has done since he was a puppy.. and he still talks to me ..especially when I have toast at breakfast time.. he is 4 in June.. !!

same problem
by: Anonymous

Hi
I've just got a 10 week old schnauzer. I've had him a week and he seems a bit quiet. He follows me around and yaps at me a bit and even though be plays a little bit he does sleep s lot. I don't know whether I should be worried or not. My vet said he was a bit small for his age.

Blase puppy
by: Michele

He's in a new home with a new family and to get your new puppy.. Ziggy..to take notice of you, play with him and don't be rough and he will enjoy being with you and your family.. Schnauzers are very sociable dogs and it wouldn't take him long to follow you and want to join in with everything you do..Make sure you feed him the right puppy food... 4 months is the right age .. but 12 weeks.. 3 months, would have been OK too...

Ziggy our new puppy

Yes, he was kind of blase (uninterested too) for the first day at home.
Today is his third day... and he is acting much more "friendly"... I think he could have been shy, or little scared... don't you think?!
