Won't let me know when he needs to go out.

I just adopted a 5 year old Mini Schnauzer. And he won't let me know when he wants to go out. What can I do?

You need to go back to basics with this Mini.
Take him into the garden or yard after every meal and every time he wakes up to he can eliminate.
Have a word or phrase - "Go", "Potty" "Wee" - anything you like.
Say the word when he does the business and every time he does something outside, give him a treat.
If he does something inside, don't punish him; he should learn quickly if you are vigilant and use only these positive techniques of praise and treats.
