White mini schnauzer - her black nose is turning pink

by pam

Our mini white is 8 years old and just in the past 6 months I've noticed her back nose is losing it's color. It looks as if she has rubbed the color off, since some parts are still black. What is happening here?
Thanks

Nose is turning pink
by: Ann G

First of all, she's a cutie! :-)

This discoloration may be one of two things. If you changed her food and water bowls to plastic, she may be allergic which will cause this to happen.

Another thing is a condition called "winter nose." When the weather gets cold, a dog's nose may fade. Sometimes it comes back when the weather gets warmer; sometimes not. My schnauzer has this condition. Right now, his nose is faded in spots. Last year, it came back so I'm hoping it will again this year.

Hope this helped. :-)
