Wet Beard

by Susan Watson
(Indianapolis, IN)

My mini schnauzer has just started waking up with a soaked beard. She sleeps with me at night and is not licking herself, but wakes up and her beard is soaking wet. I have also noticed that she did it while in her crate as well. This all started yesterday before that no problem. Any ideas?? She is 6 1/2 months old and aside from that she is a bright and alert puppy.

I think I would still get her checked by a vet if it continues.

Yes, she is drinking and eating. It only seems to be happening while she is sleeping.

strange

Hi Sue,
How strange. Is she drinking water?
If she is not licking herself and she is not drinking water, it could be excessive drooling. I have never come across this in a Schnauzer before.
There is however an article here which says that Mini Schnauzers CAN suffer from it:

I think the best thing is to get her checked out by a vet ASAP and try and catch the problem before it escalates.
Good luck.
