schnoodle half way upstairs then comes down butt first

One of my dogs, age 10, has started walking half way up the stairs to second floor then turning around and coming the rest of the way butt first. One of his back legs also shakes, trembles occasionally. What causes this?

Sounds like possible worms or some other booty problem. Or it might just feel good. Schnauzers are unique dogs, mine is almost 3 now and she constantly amazes me with something I’ve never seen her do.🤷‍♀️

How strange, I have not come across this before.
Leg trembling is not uncommon with older Schnauzers, and therefore older Schnoodles, but the half way up the stairs and coming down butt first is a mystery.
It sounds like it could be behavioural rather than physical. Do you think he is frightened/anxious to go any higher?
Is he showing any other odd behaviour traits?
The other reason could be arthritis in his joints -again, any other signs of this? If so, put him on a joint supplement.
Either way, I would block off your stairs and only let him go up and down when you are there.
If you do find out the cause, I would be very interested to hear. My guess is anxiety or arthritis, but I am not a vet or a behaviourist.
