Schnauzer Following me Around the House

In response to "is it normal for your Schnauzer to follow you around the house"? I would say a definite "yes".

I had the pleasure of owning my therapeutic Miniature Schnauzer Skippy (salt 'n' pepper) for 10 precious years. I am disabled with a 10-year-old son and a husband who works long hours.

Skippy went with me where ever I went, it did not matter. He followed me everywhere, even if I got up and he was asleep, he still would follow me around, he wanted to be with me, like nearly all Schnauzers do.

I think that they (Schnauzers) become very family-oriented, not thinking that they are, in fact, a pet or even a dog. They are very loyal and giving of themselves, especially to the person who primarily cares for them.

I think that Schnauzers are perhaps the most intelligent breed.

I love you, jack!
by: Kelsey and jack

I rescued my mini Schnauzer over a year ago. He is so protective and loving he sleeps beside me ever night. I can't imagine life without him. I love you jack!

Following you
by: Anonymous

I agree, my Giant Schnauzer follows me from room to room and will wait outside of the bathroom door for me! Also, if he sees a person outside in the back yard, he will bark his head off (as Schnauzer tend to do) and then place himself right next to me. I never taught him that! He just knows instinctively to protect his mom. Because we got him as a guard dog for me (my husband is in the military and is gone the majority of the year), I reinforce the behavior by petting him and saying "Good boy" and "It's ok" because I know he's doing his job. I feel so much safer living alone since I got my Max

Therapy Schnauzer
by: Linda and Max

Thank you for sharing that with us, Elizabeth.

There is no doubt that Schnauzers love us humans and make wonderful companion and therapy dogs.

Apparently the Border Collie is the most intelligent dog according to scientists.

Howwever, we're sure anyone who has ever owned a Schnauzer will agree that they are really tuned into their owners and families and can almost seem as though they know what we are thinking or how we are feeling (Max certainly does).
