Schnauzer bumps - what are Rockie's chances of survival?

My Schnauzer keeps getting I is guess what they call "schnauzer bumps".
He has had quite a few, some went away and some had to be removed and they contain hair and skin! Ick!
Anyway..he now has one that is growing quite fast know size of an oval shaped baseball (if that makes sense) they have to put him under for surgery on this one and he is ten years old.
What are his chances?
