Schnauzer or Miniature ?
Miniatures are usually mature at about six months so coat and furnishings should there by about this time.
Schnauzers take more time to develop and it could take up to a year or more

You don't say how old your schnauzer is.. my puppy .. at 14 weeks old tomorrow, is growing his beard .. it grows as the puppy grows My Benji still has his puppy soft coat but his wire coat is coming through..... if your dog is adult .. then I have no idea.. ! His beard should have grown as his coat grows....
