How common is it for a miniature schnauzer to have ears that naturally stand up? My guy is 12 years old, and his stand straight up. I haven't seen another schnauzer like him.

I have a black and silver with ears up and she look so unusual, there is not a day that someone talk about her ears.
She look special, she is 1 year and we cannot imagine her another way. It’s a part of her expression cause theses ears moves all the time. We love it!

NOTE FROM LINDA: Schnauzer ears come in all shapes and sizes, we love 'em, it's part of their character!

He's gorgeous. Charlie my 10 year old mini has stand up ears too, he looks so distinguished.

Oh my he looks identical to my almost 13 year old mini schnauzer who I dearly love.

Our black mini also has stand up ears, makes a look like a scottie dog whereas our salt and pepper one doesn't- they just look different and a talking point(can't load a photo to show what they look like)

What a beauty! This is the effect that Manu American owners try to achieve, how wonderful that Samson has it naturally, he looks great!
It is not very usual, you are just lucky and I bet he hadn't had any ear infection problems, like minis with folded ears.
