Our two year old schnauzer bit our 22 year old daughter

by Chris
(Canada)

Our schnauzer was sitting beside my husband on the couch and my daughter was sitting on the other side of our dog, my husband was showing our daughter something on his computer and she leaned back to see the computer screen and he bit her on the face. What to do next. We are all totally baffled.
Duke is excercised every day , he is very social dog, loves people and other dogs and we have no idea why he did this.

Yes, but what action should she take? It did difficult when a trained dog suddenly starts misbehaving.

Biting

We are not animal behaviourists, but think it could be one of two reasons.
Either the dog was jealous of the attention your husband was giving your daughter.
And/or it is because your dog is two years old. Some dogs try to push the boundaries during the Terrible Twos, by asserting themselves in various ways.
Either way, it needs nipping in the bud.
Monitor your dog while your husband deliberately gives lots of attention to other people, including your daughter and, if your dog reacts, take action straight away.
Good luck.
