Our beautiful Zara

by John and Millie
(Puerto Rico)

My wife and I dreamed in our sleep about a wiry dog a week before she arrived to our front yard. We both had made comments about our similar dream but thought nothing of it. Zara came into our lives on 2/18/2016. She was our first dog and we loved her like a child. She literally was a dream made true. I thank God for such a beautiful gift. She came to us all wiry, hair matted and banged up but with love and a home she blossomed. She was our hero guardian after hurricane Maria in our home in Puerto Rico where at nights she was vigilant due to there being no electricity or lighting. We miss Zara immensely, having lost her to a brain tumor on 8/26/2019. She did not suffer. Zara taught us so many beautiful things about life and how beautiful God’s creatures are. We can learn so much from them. Thank you God for Zara, may she Rest in Peace. We love you Zara.

what a beautiful story about Zara, and how lucky you were to have her in your lives. She was so lucky too, you obviously loved her a great deal and took good care of her.
We are so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the photos she is a real beauty and you must really miss her.
I can imagine her in those dark nights, keeping an eye and an ear out, ready to alert to you anything amiss or any strange sounds, so very Mini Schnauzer-ish.
Here is the Rainbow Bridge poem, so dad, but also beautiful:
From: Rainbow Bridge: Norse Legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.
