My Snorkie has stopped jumping.

My 2 1/2 year old male snorkie (miniature schnauzer and yorkie mix) used to jump on the couch without a problem. Recently he stopped jumping all together. He has to be coaxed to jump and then sometimes he doesn't. Now he has started to whine when he does decide to jump. Goes for walks doesn't seem to bother to him. I've given him infant tylenol and that seems to help. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

heading off what could be a big problem

Yes do see your vet asap...we have had two small dogs (both were under 3 years old) with degenerative disc disorder - the first time it happened we did not recognize the symptoms and were heartbroken because we had to put her down.

When it happened to the second dog, we were able to recognize what was happening and, with a lot of TLC, she recovered and is still with us and has only a minor limp.

Of course, I don't know that this is the case with your dog, but for her to stop jumping indicates something is amiss and, if it is something serious catching it early can not only save your dog's life but can be treated much more easily which will also save you a lot of money.

I would take him into the vet to make sure nothing is wrong!
