best food for schnauzers
by: Anonymous

I have an 8 year old female schnauzer, Schatzie. I've tried about 4 different foods over the years and now have her on Orijen. She has allergys so I stay away from grains. The only problem I have with Orijen is that it is higher in fat than I would like. Schnauzers can be prone to pancreatis. Two other brands I she seems to do good on are Innova and Wellness Core.

Good Foods for your schnauzer kids

I feed my 2 schnauzers Avoderm (baked lamb & rice) and Pinnacle Holistic (chicken & oats) with great results. Their skin and coats are in superb condition and the foods digest well. Once or twice a week I'll give them Natural Balance Sweetpotato & Fish canned food (which they go absolutely crazy over)but I generally find my dogs do better on a dry diet which is why I limit canned. If you can stand the smell, canned mackeral & cooked sweet potato go over well too. Little tip: save your money on treats - feed raw sweet potato, carrots, green beans as treats and your dogs will never know that they're getting "good for you" treats.

Dog Food

Anything holistic is good. I try to stay away from grains and by-products. Make sure first ingredient is chicken, beef, etc. No by-products.
