mini schnauzer keeps scratching

I have a 10 year female mini schnauzer. She has been scratching herself for years now. I thought it was a diet issue and I have taken her off beef & chicken wet food giving her fish based wet food and grain free dry food. Why can't my dog stop scratching?

Very fearful of apoquel or any other drug with immunosuppressive side effects. I use BPO+S shampoo which has been a miracle worker My boy was a 14 yr snorkie with horrid skin...vet was afraid it was cancer but too much involvement to bother with a biopsy. Offered up the shampoo hoping to help with the itching not knowing that the awful thick plaques would actually go away. Lots of baths & lots of love...we now have hair.

our previous schnauzer suffered from an allergy all his life. Vet traced it to dust mites! He had cream when it was really bad but it was never cured completely.

It sounds like she may have environmental allergies, like Max.
Go to your vet and ask for Apoquel, it has been a wonder drug for Max and thousands of other dogs with allergies.
