Lots of young dogs are destructive, how old is yours?
Is he getting plenty of exercise as well as attention?
Try and divert his attention with toys he CAN chew, and try a Kong toy filled with a treat or peanut butter to distract him.
Young dogs explore the world with their mouths, like banies and some have more energy than others.
Try covering your couch with something he can't rip, diverting his attention and praising him when he has been successfully diverted
