Itchy ears

by Owner

I gave my Schnauzer a bath, he will not stop digging. He wants me to keep rubbing his ears, I've put drying gel in both ears and he's still reacting that way.

NOTE FROM LINDA AND MAX: Get him checked out for ear mites or an ear infection

Itchy ears
by: Brian

Our schnauzer (sadly now deceased) suffered from this all his life, off and on. It was an allergy and it always cleared up quickly with some cream from our vet.

Schnauzer Itchy Ears
by: Toni

Do you take care not to get water in your Schnauzer's ears when bathing? I hold my mini-s ears down when pouring water over her head, trying to be sure there is no water getting into her ears. You might want to put some ear drops in as was suggested, to be sure there is no yeast infection starting. Many pet stores have quality drops to try. Don't let it go too long if you can't get the itching stopped. Our pets depend on us to help them when they can't let us know what is going on.

Ear mites maybe ?
by: Michele

You MUST do as Linda & Max say otherwise your Schnauzer will be in " Serious " trouble. Ears are the source of hearing and any problems will cause him to go Deaf if not treated.. If he is digging he may have been infested with little insects.
Also he may have grass seeds in his ears.. PLEASE for your Schnauzer's sake " Take him to your vet " as he will need ear ointment.. the more he scratches the more damage he'll do and make them very sore..
