how much to feed

by debbie
(fair oaks)

Hi, I keep reading everywhere that we need to feed raw meats, veggies, fruits...etc., and it is supposed to be less expensive; please share with me how I go about this.
Also, how much food should a puppy eat daily, and how much at 2 years of age should she be eating?

Thank you,

Debbie

I recently began raw feeding my 11 lb schnoodle. There is a yahoo raw feeding group with tons of info you my want to check it out. On the days I dont raw feed I feed her The Honest kitchen human grade all natural dehydrated dog food. it is pricey but so worth it and she love it.

raw diet
by: cindi

There are many on the market already made. Instinct has a great one and I get it at the Natural Pet store. Also freeze dried brands are available. They already have the added vitamins, etc. Many good sites on the computer. Dry is absolutely the worst unless you get a really good holistic one. We feed ours Taste of The Wild. Think about it....most dry foods are baked at such a high temp there is no nutrition left. And, How long has it been on the shelf? Would you eat it? That's how I look at what my dogs eat!

feeding raw

Debbie, I too am considering feeding raw. But,will have to research a lot more about it before I take the leap. My initial reading indicates there is a lot to it. Making sure the dog get a certain amt of proteins, probiotics, a certain amt of vitamins, etc. Also, we travel with Spiffy and also sometime must board her. That is a consideration as well. If you get any good comments, I'd appreciate your passing them on to me.

Our vet has always recommended 1/2c dry food 2xs a day for an adult mini approx 19lbs. Out of that, we take out about one Tbls. per feeding to save as treats during the day. And, we also feed her vegetables during the day as treats.
