How big will my dog get?

I just got a new puppy for mother's day that was born Jan 21st of 2009. He is about 8 inches tall right now so i am wondering how big he will get. I am not sure if he is a mini or a toy breed though since my friend has one that is only 10 weeks old and she is bigger than my dog. Please advise. I am new to this breed.

I was told at 12 weeks of age you can double the weight and be a good gestimation of adult size. is this true?

If your new puppy is a Schnauzer, then he sounds like he is definitely a Miniature.

Although some people breed tiny Schnauzers, (especially in America) there is technically no such thing as a toy schnauzer, according to the Kennel Clubs.

The Miniature is the smallest size of Schnauzer - the others are the Standard and the Giant Schnauzer.
