Help me??

by Kayla
(LongBottom,ohio )

I have a female 5 year old schnauzer she is laying around not really moving at all. She will not eat and has vomited mucus looking stuff a few times and is also pooping yellow looking stuff.
She is drinking and I'm pretty sure she is peeing normal, but the not eating and mopping around is really scaring me. I took her to the vet a couple days ago and he said it was just the bug and gave her some antibiotic but she isn't getting better, please help me!!
Miley's worried mommy!!

Wonderful news
by: Michele

Kyla what wonderful news that your girl is better. Please don't
let her run around too energetically as her stitches may work
loose and come out. Watch her carefully that she doesn't hurt herself where her operation was. I guess you now know that she cannot have puppies because she has had her uterus removed ( a hysterectomy ) she will be much happier and devoted to you because you have given her, her life back
Well done Kyla for persevering and doing the right thing.

" Help " Advice
by: Michele

I hope your Girl is feeling better and has stopped throwing up.. the advice I would give would be to give her cooked chicken & brown rice with broccoli and carrots..cooked of course.. it might be that the food you are giving her is upsetting her.. or that she could be having the start of Peritonitis.. a tummy infection.. but please check this with your vet, and get him to give your Schnauzer a thorough test.. which means a Blood Test too as this will show up what is wrong.. well it should, then you can begin the right treatment

Help Me Response
by: Anonymous

My mini schnauzer did that after getting the "4-in-one" annual shot (I will never do that to her again). If that is not a possibility, then does she go out in the yard and dig with her nose? (mine does). I also cannot give my mini hardly any people food because it throws her off. I stick with the Blue Buffalo or Taste of the Wild and only give her cooked egg, boiled chicken, pasta, rice, or a bit of carrot, apple, sweet potato or green bean. ANY fat causes my mini to have diarrhea, and she mopes when not feeling well. Watch her carefully, and if she stops drinking, give Pedialite (baby)on a spoon to keep her electrolytes up. Give only boiled chicken and rice for a day and see if she feels better. I also give unflavored yogurt (my mini loves it) to help with the tummy to get over whatever ails her.

ring the vet again
by: Arthur

Mini Schnauzers have fast metabolisms, so if the vet is right, yours should be feeling well again within the week.
Keep an eye on her, if you are still worried, give your vet a ring and see about when he or she thinks she should have recovered by - if she is still vomiting, etc, take her back in.
