dry food for our 7 yr old mini schnauzer

Our miniature schnauzer, Spiffy, has always scratched a lot and has very dry skin.
The new vet has suggested adding Omega 3 to her meals and switching to a food with whitefish or salmon. (Currently is eating Natural Balance Ultra Premium).
NB makes a food with fish but I noticed both Wellness and Blue Buffalo seem to be rated very favorably.
Any thoughts? Or any suggestions of others to investigate?

natural schnauzers is a yahoo group that is VERY helpful with these types of questions. send me your email address and I will send you the best foods for schnauzers. don't be afraid of raw diets especially venison. my email is ongoldpond@msn.com. we foster for schnauzer love rescue.

I've always fed my Schnauzers on half dry and half Naturediet semi-wet and never had any problems.. I give them a cod liver oil capsule every day and they have never scratched.. could it be the warmer weather.?. also schnauzers are prone to what the breeders call Schnauzer Bumps.. little dry spots under the skin.. a little olive oil rubbed into her skin when you are grooming her may help.. I'd advise you to contact a Schnauzer Breeder, for the correct advice...
