Desi the schnoodle.

sleepy boy.

sleepy boy.

This dog is so sweet and friendly but he hates other dogs. We took him to a class for training and he passed his canine good citizen test. We can't take him anywhere near other dogs. Is this a common trait? We adopted him from a shelter when he was 18 months.

Desi and other dogs
by: Lori waters

Desi is fine with other dogs when he's not on a leash. We boarded him at Christmas and the owner said Desi was fine with other dogs. He actually wasn't that interested in them and wanted to run and play and look for anything that moved.
He seems to be leash reactive.
We had a scare with him where he was lost but came back to us via his micro chip.
Thanks for your advice.

Desi

He looks so sweet and innocent.
It is not usual for Schnoodles to hate other dogs, Desi has obviously had some frightening experience in the past.
He needs resocializing with other dogs. Were there other dogs in the training class?
We suggest you take him to a class where there are other dogs present -explain to the trainer that at the moment he has issues.
OOtherwise consult a canine behaviorist to help him get over his fear/aggression - but this can be expensive.
Good luck.
