Tons of black spots!!
by: Anonymous

I've had two schnauzers, one black, one silver. My mother in law has had a dozen schnauzers (the dogs were not related to mine). All of them have had black spots, some more than others. My black schnauzer had hyper and loss of pigmentation at the same time.

No vet has ever told me this was harmful, but that this is typical for schnauzers. Also, they do come on very quickly. They could be blemish free and then the next grooming they're everywhere!

I wouldn't worry about it, but the next check up, ask your vet about it and just make them aware.

Black spots on my Schnauzer

Thank you for replying, no they are not raised they are scattered they are oval shaped. I haven't seen any change in his mood or behavior but for sure will take him to vet & find out what it is.

Just notice my black spots on my salt & pepper Schnauzer
by: Itzel G.

Hi I'm a little concern some black spots on my miniature schnauzer back. He didn't have that many 2 weeks ago. Should I take him to the vet? What could I do? I feed him dry food I recently switch to halo food.

are they raised?
by: Jez

Are the black spots on your schnauzer large or small - do they look like the color of the skin, or are they raised above the surface of the skin?
If they just look like dark patches, they could well be the normal skin pigmentation - this can change color throughout the dog's life.
If they are small and raised - like blackheads - that could be Schnauzer Bumps, or Comedone Syndrome.

Black spots on skin..
by: Michele

I suggest you ask your vet and get him to have a look, as it depends what sort of black spots they are.. It may be nothing , but best to have a vet's diagnosis.. My first Schnauzer was silver ( pepper & salt ) but never had black spots under his skin..
