Beard always wet.

My 11 yr old mini , Cooper's , beard is always wet . I have noticed this within this past year. I brush his teeth weekly with doggie toothpaste and toothbrush. His vet said it's just saliva and said his teeth look good a bit of tarter on back teeth though. A second vets opinion commented similarly. He eats just fine doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I've tried scraping the tartar off his back teeth but it doesn't change his beard being wet.
Have other owners of older schnauzers experience this?

Max's beard is wet a lot of the time. I think a lot of schnauzers have this and wouldn't worry too much.
As long as he's eating well I wouldn't worry, we all develop physical traits we'd rather not have as we get older!
