Adopted schnauzer-terrier cross

I adopted a 7 to almost 1yr old schauzer-terrier mix who does not eat well.
I put out breafast or dinner and he may pick at it or ignore it. Most times he will eventually eat it butI never saw a dog before that did not want to eat.
He is only fed dry afood. I have tried tried different kinds with the same effect.
Any suggestions?
