My Little Schnoodle Puppy - why is he so different?

I was given a schnoodle as a gift, I don't know much about the breed. I tried looking up pictures but mine seems to be a little different, he is tan color, he only has curly hair on the top part of his head, he seems quite long with long legs and very straight hair...not curly at all, I was expecting a little hairy ball.
His mom and dad are also schnoodles. Both of his parents are quite small (I would say little bigger than a miniture) white color and lots of curly hair, any idea why he is so different looking? Would he continue to have this type of hair? Any chance his hair could get curly? He just turned 3 months yesterday.
