How do schnauzer get along with cats?

We have 3 orange tabby cats. One of whom is 16 years old but very easy going. The others are brother and sister 7 years old. They are indoor cats. Are schnauzers usually able to adapt to being around cats? I'm thinking about getting a schnauzer puppy for my family.
