Can any organisations help Maggie the Schnauzer?

I am hoping you might be able to head me in the right direction. We have an 8 yr. old Miniature Schanauzer who was a rescue and is our pride and joy.
She has recently been diagnosed with Diabetes and has now developed cataracts. I have been out of work since January of this year, and while we can afford the insulin and needles for her, we can't afford surgery to restore her eyesight.
Her vet said she is a good candidate for this, because she is young and otherwise healthy.
Do you know of any groups or organizations that might offer financial assistance? We are heartbroken, seeing Maggie bump into things and keep to herself, and she isn't as outgoing as she once was.
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
